Hands-on experience that introduces children and their families to a variety of aquatic creatures living in the salt ponds.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Each year the  Salt Ponds Coalition embarks on Salt Pond Safaris that introduce dozens of kids to the wonders of the salt ponds. The kids get hands-on experience with salt pond ecology–plan on them getting wet!

Directions to Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge: Ninigret Pond, Charlestown, RI. GPS: 5 Park Lane, Charlestown, RI. From there, continue to follow signs for the Wildlife Refuge. Road will dead-end into Wildlife Refuge Parking lot. (Landmarks to pass: Ninigret Park Playground, Frosty Drew Nature Center, and Ninigret Park Dog Park.)
