Mountain Laurel Blooming Now In The Charlestown Moraine Preserve
Mountain laurel is in peak bloom right now in Charlestown. The native evergreen shrubs feature clusters of delicate, saucer-shaped flowers that range from deep pink to pure white.
The Moraine Preserve features hiking trails through the Mountain laurel, bringing the blossoms up close. It is an absolutely gorgeous experience just off Route 1. It is at its peak this week, so don’t wait, but pick a time of day when you can tolerate the heat.
- See our Open Space Guide for directions in getting there and more information about the Moraine Preserve.
- To learn lots more about the Moraine Preserve and why it was acquired by the town you can read this FAQ from 2013.

It is great this year. All up Kings Factory and probably Carter preserve. So great to see large areas still undeveloped and home to mountain laurel.

Yes indeed it is a great year for them, driving along King’s Factory Road there are many, also Buckeye Brook Rd just downhill from the 90 degree bend half way along it, there is a nice trail through the laurel bushes there.
Nice photo Fran ;-))
