Craig F. Louzon – Chariho School Committee
Except for a three-year enlistment in the army, Craig has lived his entire life in South County. He grew up in Narragansett, attended the University of Rhode Island, and moved to Charlestown in 1985 with his wife Ann Marie where they raised their four children: Stephen, Christopher, Emily, and Aimee–all Chariho graduates. Craig worked for over 40 years for URI where he was employed as Grounds Superintendent in the Facilities Operations Department.
Serving 15 years on the Chariho School Committee, Craig has contributed to the positive direction Chariho has taken, exemplified by four Blue Ribbon Schools and Chariho becoming one of the top 10 school systems in the state. He attributes Chariho’s success to past Superintendent’s Barry Ricci’s enduring philosophy of “All the kids, all the time.” Craig believes Chariho should continue moving forward. “Now is not the time to interrupt Chariho’s positive momentum in providing a sound education to Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkinton’s children. The Chariho School Committee has historically provided the resources, guidance, and facilities necessary to educate our students and prepare them for their future.” With the growing mandates from the state and federal government, Craig understands the role the School Committee plays in ensuring all students receive the education they deserve. He has empathy for the taxpayers and knows how to balance the cost and needs of the students.
