Holly M. Eaves– Chariho School Committee

Holly is an engineer, entrepreneur, business owner, educator, and dedicated public servant.

Holly began her career as an electrical engineer working on computer mainframes at IBM. After moving to Charlestown in 1994, she and her husband founded Eaves Devices, where they have developed battery management solutions for military, aerospace, and marine applications.

Inspired by a desire to encourage more young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, Holly earned a Master of Arts in Education and teacher certification from URI and then spent 14 years teaching mathematics and computer science in the East Greenwich School District, “gaining firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing students, teachers, and schools.”

Community service has been a constant throughout Holly’s time in Charlestown. It began with the original creation of the Ninigret Park playground led by George Bliven and has continued through volunteer work with the Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center, the Charlestown Elementary School playground projects, the PTO, the Charlestown School Improvement Team, Chariho Building Committees, Habitat for Humanity, town committees, local politics, and past service on the Chariho School Committee.

After a break to help care for her first grandchild, Holly is once again focused on community. “I am honored to be completing Donna Chambers’ term on the Chariho School Committee and am seeking election to continue serving the students, families, and taxpayers of our district.”
