Leo Mainelli: CCA-endorsed candidates for 2018 are proven leaders

The following letter appeared in local newspapers and is reprinted here with permission of the author Leo Mainelli. Mr. Mainelli is President of the Charlestown Citizens Alliance.

Very soon residents of Charlestown will vote for members of the Town Council, School Committee, Planning Commission, and Town Moderator. In this important election, the voter’s choice will determine the future of our beautiful town, from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to the villages along the Pawcatuck River.

Elected officials endorsed by the Charlestown Citizens Alliance (CCA) have a record of accomplishment. They stopped the railroad bypass, safeguarded our drinking water, promoted renewable energy, reduced vulnerability to natural hazards, improved the management of the salt ponds, acquired open space, and expanded recreational opportunities. At the same time, they supported our schools, maintained our town’s strong financial position, and kept our taxes among the lowest in the state.
