Update On Robert Malin

June 17, 2018: Today we received a note from Robert Malin’s step-son with the sad news that Robert had passed away late on June 16.

June 15, 2018: Yesterday we received a sad update on Robert Malin from his step-son: “Robert took a turn for the worse. Due to infections, pneumonia, and additional fluid on the brain Robert has been moved to a Hospice Care facility.”

May 28, 2018: Robert Malin was a candidate for Charlestown Town Council in the 2016 election. He has also been very active in the opposition to the Invenergy Power Plant in Burrillville and many other issues and causes.

In February, an MRI revealed a tumor on Robert’s spine. The cancer’s type and location are rare and required that he travel to Boston to the Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

After a series of radiation treatments he had a six hour surgery in early May to remove the tumor. After the surgery he was scheduled to have more radiation treatments.

He came through that surgery well with a good prognosis, but he has suffered several strokes since the surgery. He will now receive rehabilitative treatment for the strokes in addition to his continuing cancer treatment.

Robert’s family have set up a Go Fund Me page where there have been occasional updates, and where you can read more about his situation and learn how to help.

We wish Bob a full recovery!
