Charlestown Agricultural Preservation Commission Response to NEC Future

CHARLESTOWN AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION COMMISSION

April 13,2017

To Whom it May Concern,

At the April 12, 2017 meeting of the Charlestown Agricultural Preservation Commission. all of the members opposed the proposed Federal Railway Administration NEC “Old Saybrook to Kenyon Bypass” which would destroy several farms and open space lands, which are supposedly protected in perpetuity. Those at risk are the Amos Green Farm and Stoney Hill Farm and the Carter Preserve.

We continue to support the Town Council’s resolution that was passed January 10, 2017 to oppose this plan and all other town and state efforts to nullify this plans effect on the important properties above.

Sincerely,

Noel Rowe
Chairman of the Charlestown Agricultural Preservation Commission on behalf of Susan Barrett, Vice Chair; John Barrett, Secretary; and Mike Merner
