Spooky Halloween Views at Frosty Drew Observatory in Ninigret Park

Join the Frosty Drew Astronomers for a night under spooky Halloween skies. They will have views of Saturn, Jupiter, the waxing gibbous Moon, and more in their telescopes. On the campus, they will have activities to celebrate astronomy and Halloween. Loads of candy will be available as well throughout the night. As the witching hour approaches they will direct their telescopes towards planetary nebulae – the ghostly remnants of dying stars, as they celebrate the departure from the lighter half of the year and plunge into the darker half.
The astronomers will open the Observatory, Science Center, and Sky Theatre at 6:00 p.m. The Observatory will be in full-out Halloween mode with frightful sights, spooky sounds, and candy available for all who visit. Starting at 6:15 p.m., and again at 7:45 p.m. sit with the Sky Evangelists under the willow for a kid-friendly storytime. At 6:30 pm, and again at 8:00 pm, the Sky Theatre will host the original 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast by Orson Wells accompanied by select images shown on screen as well as additional props. A scavenger hunt will be available for kids (and adults), designed to take you around the Frosty Drew campus.

Telescope observation will depend on weather conditions, though the event will happen regardless of weather. Costumes are NOT required to attend but are certainly welcome.
Dig out that old costume, put on your mask, and come out to the creepy woodlands of Ninigret Park to celebrate the Eve of All Hallows… If you dare…
