The Commission and the Bicycle Pathway Committee have been tasked with promoting the development and use of trails, linear greenways, and bikeways, and with investigating, initiating, and endorsing efforts at both the local and state levels to create and expand designated walking routes and non-motorized paths throughout the community.

What: 10 mile bike ride on a route that passes by Charlestown Beach, Green Hill Beach, Moonstone Beach and South Kingstown Beach.

Our Mountain Laurel is particularly beautiful at the moment. It is an absolutely gorgeous experience right here just off Route 1. Laurel has an artistic architectural quality while being human scale bringing the blossoms up close. Truly breathtaking at every turn of the trail. It is at its peak this week, so don’t wait. Make sure to bring the kids, the precious fairy garden feel is bound to inspire their imaginations.
Overwhelmingly, residents are “very happy” with Charlestown’s management, finances, education system and recreation opportunities. In response to the candidates’ most important query, “What are your hopes, concerns or questions about our town?” we’ve heard new ideas, valid criticisms, and lots of love for Charlestown.
Charlestown’s Administrator and its Department of Public Works Director have moved to narrow the widths of the travel lanes on Charlestown Beach Road and plan to do the same on East and West Beach roads.
Charlestown has been given a holiday gift. A corporate giant, Dollar General, decided to withdraw its appeal of the Planning Commission’s denial of their master plan for RT. 1A and Narrow Lane.
