Forbes Names Frosty Drew A Best Place To See Perseid Meteor Shower
Forbes names the eight best places in North America to see the Perseid meteor shower and Charlestown’s Frosty Drew Observatory is number two on the list!
The annual Perseid meteor shower has begun and will peak Saturday, August 12 until the early hours of Sunday, August 13.
The other places listed to see these “shooting stars” were: Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado; Manitoulin Eco Park Ontario, Canada; Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah; Eastern Sierra Observatory, Nevada; Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, Michigan; Acadia National Park, Maine; and Prineville Reservoir State Park, Oregon. You can read the article at the Forbes site.
In order to see the Perseids, you need to be away from light pollution and under a dark sky and we are so fortunate in Charlestown to still have dark, star filled skies.
If the weather is clear, Frosty Drew Observatory will have a great program to help you enjoy the view even more. Check out the details at the Frosty Drew website.
You must have a ticket, tickets must be purchased online, and tickets are not available until a day or so before the event. You can get the tickets, when they become available at the Frosty Drew website.
If you can’t get a ticket, you can find some other dark place in Charlestown, put a blanket out under our beautiful sky, and wait for nature’s fireworks.
