You Can Vote By Mail Ballot In Financial Town Referendum Before 8 PM June 5th

This year registered voters in Charlestown can once again vote in the Financial Town Referendum (FTR) by mail, by placing their ballot in the drop box, or in person.

In mid-May a mailing was sent via the U.S. Postal Service to each of the town’s registered voters.

Ballots may be returned by mail or returned to the Town Hall. Note there is a ballot drop box next to the main entrance to the Town Hall where ballots may be deposited.

All mail ballots must be received by the Town Clerk by 8 p.m. on June 5th.

If you believe the postal service will not deliver your ballot by June 5th, then you should drop it off at Town Hall. No matter what the postmark is on your ballot, it has to be at Town Hall by June 5th.

Voters who prefer to vote in person may vote at Town Hall, 4540 South County Trail, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 5th.

When a ballot envelope is received, the Board of Canvassers will certify that the ballot envelope is from a registered voter. On June 6th, all envelopes will be opened at once and the ballots fed into the machine that will read and count the ballots.

If You Do Not Receive A Ballot

Those who do not receive mail at their voting address and thus will not receive a ballot should email the Town Clerk to arrange to pick up a ballot at Town Hall. Email the Town Clerk at ARWeinreich@charlestownri.gov or call 401-364-1200.
