Vote In State Primary Election By September 9

Three Ways To Vote (choose one of these)

  • Vote by mail—If you requested a mail ballot, fill out your mail ballot and mail it by September 2 or place it in the secure drop box outside Town Hall by 8 p.m. on September 9.
  • Vote early until September 8 —You are able to vote early in person at the Town Hall from August 20 to September 8, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Vote on Wednesday, September 9 —You can vote in person at your polling location, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., on September 9.

There is only one local contest on the Primary ballot, and that is the local Democratic Party primary for Representative in General Assembly District 36, (currently held by Tina Spears).

  • District 36 includes all of Charlestown and New Shoreham, and parts of South Kingstown and Westerly.

If you are unaffiliated, you can vote in either primary, but not both. If you are affiliated, you have to vote with the party you are registered in. If you aren’t sure how you are registered, you can check your voter status at the Secretary of State website.
