Bonnie Van Slyke To Be Sworn In On January 12
When: Monday, January 12 at 7 pm
Where: Charlestown Town Hall
What: Just before the Town Council meeting starts, Bonnie will take the oath of office and will officially join the Town Council
The election was finished and ballots counted on December 2, but it takes the state Board of Elections time to verify that results are complete and final for any election. With all that done, Bonnie can now be sworn in.

Congratulations and many thanks for running Bonnie. It is true that from now until November you will be in a minority on the council but hopefully come November you will be in a majority.

The Polco 2021 community survey clearly! states! “Has (should have) sent a message to this council.” 80/90% of the residents of Charlestown do not! want any! of the expansion, exploitation… commercialization? being proposed! listen to your constituents. We! who you are elected to represent, do not! want any! of the commercialization these four?counselors are proposing. what is their motivation to turn Ninigert park into a year round entertainment venue?! destroying our/Ninigret Park’s dark night sky designation. A year round entertainment venue?

My husband and I wish Bonnie well.
It would be good to see people at the meeting to show support and encouragement. I hope people will engage more and attend meetings. It will be good for her to see friendly faces in the audience. The agenda is posted on the town website under IQM2 (under agenda and minutes) and then scroll across to agenda and agenda packeet. FYI Under consent agenda the Administrator’s report often has some interesting details but they don’t get shared at the meeting since they are on consent just to be accepted.
Go Bonnie, we are behind you.

So thankful to you Bonnie for taking on this role. We NEED you! Call on your supporters as you need us!

Good luck Bonnie, I suspect that you are going to need it. You are strong in character and strong in will; however, these political gladiators have you out numbered. Perhaps the your election to this council seat has sent a message to this council.
