I hope that the CCA is working hard to get people out to vote. It is time to make a change in the way the current council treats the citizens of the town. I know that Bonnie will be a minority on this current council, however maybe this council will get the message. The town forces businesses to design the buildings to meet the “rural character” of the town, yet they are doing nothing to protect or prevent that “rural character” from being built up!!! Zoning be damned, let’s just keep building! This council did nothing to challenge the state overruling the rights of towns and cities to enforce their own zoning ordinances. Keep the developing at the current pace and the next building with rural character will be a new school system. The population of South County has increased tremendously over the years. If one doesn’t realize this, just take a ride on Rt. 1. What used to be 3-4 months of beach traffic on the weekends has now turned to every day traffic throughout the year. Who is protecting our ground water. I know one family who had to put in a special filtration system in their home because their well was contaminated with E.coli bacteria from the sewage runoff from a house that was built on a hill behind them. And this has happened in a plat that is zoned 2-3 acre lots. Ground water is something every property owner ought to be concerned with, unfortunately ground water is taken for granted. Regrettably ground water is viewed as something that only the “tree huggers” whine about so they can preserve open space lands. One very disgruntled tax payer here for sure!!!
