Please Help Bonnie Van Slyke With A Donation
The Charlestown Citizens Alliance is a political action committee or PAC that is registered with the state. Rhode Island campaign finance laws limit the amount a PAC can spend on one candidate to $2,000 per year. In regular election years there are five Town Council positions, three or four Planning Commission seats, up to three School Committee members, and a Town Moderator, which allows us to pool resources and spend money without reaching the spending limit.
One post card costs as much for one candidate as it does for 13, but CCA’s limit of $2,000 in the December election will not stretch to pay for an entire campaign. The Democratic and Republican parties are allowed to spend ten times more than political action committees on individual candidates, but we have to follow the rules, and as a result, Bonnie Van Slyke will have to raise and spend her own campaign finance funds.
Bonnie has set up a separate bank account named “Friends of Bonnie Van Slyke” for her campaign funds and she also has a campaign finance account at the RI Board of Elections.
