What: Learn about Samuel Davis who was a Quonochontaug developer, lawyer and preacher and why he was so mysterious.

Photo of Samuel DavisSamuel was born in 1867 in West Virginia. He went to college in Alfred, New York and became a prohibition activist. He eventually settled in Westerly, Rhode Island where he served as a Seventh Day Baptist minister. Samuel studied law and in the 1930s served as a judge in Rhode Island. He ended up on the other side of the law, though, going to prison in the mid 1930s for stealing church funds.
