Presentation On The History Of Charlestown School From 1918 To 1975

Who: Local writer Betty J. Cotter teaches writing and journalism at local universities and colleges and lives in the Shannock area of Charlestown

In this illustrated lecture, Betty, who is a Charlestown School graduate, will give details of the history of the school from its origin as the Pawcatuck Valley school in 1918, through its expansion in 1975. Betty will discuss the teachers and share letters and documents from those years.

Betty J. Cotter has been a weekly contributor to the Westerly Sun, a monthly contributor to the Providence Journal, teaches journalism at the University of Rhode Island and has also taught writing at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, Connecticut. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is the author of novels The Winters and Roberta’s Woods and other books.
