Army Corps Meeting On Environmental Restoration In Ninigret Park and NWR

When: January 8 from 5 pm to 8 pm
Where: Kettle Pond Visitor Center, 50 Bend Road, Charlestown
What: Community Meeting on Environmental Restoration at Former Charlestown Naval Auxiliary Landing Field

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host a public meeting to update stakeholders on ongoing environmental restoration efforts at the former Charlestown Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (CNALF). This meeting will provide an overview of ongoing environmental investigation and cleanup work at the former CNALF site, a 631-acre area that includes the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge and Ninigret Park.

USACE is also seeking feedback on forming a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB). Attendees are invited to complete a brief questionnaire, available in person or online, to share their concerns, suggest ways to involve the community, and indicate how they prefer to receive updates on the cleanup project.

For more information or to participate in the questionnaire, visit the project webpage at https://www.nae.usace.army.mil/Missions/Projects-Topics.

For any questions, contact Greg Hencir at gregory.m.hencir@usace.army.mil or 978-318-8873.
