Outstanding Candidates For The 2024 Election
Charlestown Citizens Alliance (CCA) is pleased to announce the names of their outstanding candidates for the 2024 election. The steering committee worked to recruit talented individuals who embody CCA’s guiding principles of fiscal responsibility, protection of our natural environment, civility, inclusiveness, and consensus. They are individuals with the skills and dedication to do what’s right for the Town, our environment, and Charlestown’s taxpayers. They are:
Town Council: Sarah Fletcher, Angela Jalbert, Peter Keating, Ruth Platner, and Bonnie Van Slyke
Planning Commission: Carol Mossa, Lisa Marie St. Godard, Sarah St. Laurent, and Coleen Galvin Yaroshenko
Town Moderator: David Wilkinson
Charlestown Citizen’s Alliance President, Leo Mainelli, said, “This is a stellar slate of candidates! Each cares deeply about the future of Charlestown and can be relied upon to serve with integrity and intelligence.”
We will have biographies for all these candidates and more election news in the next few days.

Congratulations on recruiting an excellent slate of candidates for the Charlestown we love. Transparency has been lost with the current council majority, and CCA can bring back honest government in November to benefit all residents.

Thank you to these candidates for giving of their time and talents.
There are seasoned and new voices in this slate. Experience counts as do fresh faces with other experiences. They will consider what is best for the long term. Charlestown will face many important issues in the future – changes in climate bringing challenges to our area; the effect of increasing population; the threats to our environment and to things we cherish. These people will look at the facts, the science and the effects that can result and make reasoned decisions from different perspectives, listen to input and then evaluate. Both Town Council and Planning Commission have immediate problems and long-term problems to deal with. Who makes those decisions is very important. I feel you can be confident in their ability to serve you diligently and civilly. I want someone who seeks what is best for the town, and the majority of residents, not just a particular few. The last town-wide survey spoke quite clearly. New people or those needing a refresher can see the results on the town website. CCA values mirror those results. closely. Give these candidates the opportunity to serve their town. Keep your eyes focused on some of the upcoming issues before the current council – Ningret Park Master Plan update, Charter changes, ordinance changes etc. These will affect you.
