Hands-on experience that introduces children and their families to a variety of aquatic creatures living in the salt ponds.

Each year the  Salt Ponds Coalition embarks on Salt Pond Safaris that introduce dozens of kids to the wonders of the salt ponds. Using a 30′ seine net, they will attempt to catch a variety of aquatic creatures to introduce to the children. The kids get hands-on experience with salt pond ecology–plan on them getting wet!

Directions to Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge: Ninigret Pond, Charlestown, RI. GPS: 5 Park Lane, Charlestown, RI. From there, continue to follow signs for the Wildlife Refuge.
