Chariho 2025 Budget Hearing
What: The public hearing on the Chariho Regional School District’s 2024-2025 budget
When: Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Chariho Middle School Auditorium
Why: The public hearing will concern the proposed school budget for the 2024–2025 budget year and any and all other business that may be lawful at said meeting.
A minimum of 25 voters from each town is needed to create a quorum.
A $66 million budget for all three towns is proposed. Charlestown’s share of the proposed School Budget is projected to be $12.6 million and represents a 1.01% increase in Charlestown’s share over last year’s after state aid is factored in. This increase is below the current inflation rate. The Chariho budget makes up roughly half of Charlestown’s budget.
These budget numbers may be changed by the Chariho District School Committee after the hearing at their School Committee meetings.
Each Chariho town must have 25 voters present to reach a quorum to vote on the budget. If a quorum is not achieved, the meeting will be postponed. Please try to attend this hearing.
Should there be a problem with a quorum on March 5, the meeting will be continued until the same time and place on Wednesday, March 6.
Once a quorum is reached and the public hearing held, the school committee will adopt a budget later in March, and an all-day budget referendum will take place in April in each town.
