“One Day… The Story of a Storm” – A Film By Carla Ricci
Charlestown’s own Carla Ricci made this award nominated film about the 1938 hurricane. As we move through the hurricane season, take a look at the story of this other storm that changed the face of our region. The film is 18 minutes long with an emphasis on impacts in our area. Thank you to Carla Ricci for giving us permission to share her film.
This film was nominated for 2015 Boston/New England EMMY for Best Historical/Cultural Program

My family and I were trapped on the dunes on the Westerly side of Quonnie breachway near the Life Saving Station. We could not get out – there was no way to leave when the storm hit fully upon us. We watched our house float around and others topple over. I was 5 at the time I do remember some of it. Barbara (Ornberg-Hutchins) Coon

Thanks to Carla for making this, and to CCA for bringing it to us again ….
…. and thanks to all who contributed to developing the science and technologies that enable these to be forecast nowadays in time for us to prepare.
