Remembering Vic Dvorak
It is with great sadness that we must report that Vic Dvorak has passed away.
Vic was an active supporter of CCA from its inception. Vic was elected to the Planning Commission in 2008 along with others in our first slate of candidates. Over the intervening years he donated his photography skills to make campaign photos of many of our candidates and in 2020 made candidate videos as well. He gave his time to those candidate photo shoots with amazing kindness and patience.
Vic gave his time to Charlestown in many other ways. A full-time resident of Charlestown for over thirty years, Vic was actively involved in natural resource protection. He served as both the Treasurer and Executive Director of the Salt Ponds Coalition and was a dedicated volunteer for that group as long as he lived.
Vic was a United States Air Force Captain, a URI graduate, an Information Systems Manager, and a Director or Manager at several Fortune 500 corporations. He was also a professional photographer specializing in portrait, wedding, and environmental photography. But we knew Vic best as someone devoted to Charlestown. His interests in his own words for that 2008 campaign were in “protecting our precious natural resources and heritage.”
Vic’s passing is a great loss for Charlestown and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts are with his family.

I’m late in acknowledging Vic’s demise but as I hadn’t heard from him in a while I guess I knew. I will remember him fondly as direct and opinionated but kind and respectful, serious but also relaxed. Vic was somewhat of a photography mentor to me and if you haven’t seen any of his photo gallery/slideshows – many taken overseas during Susan’s and his many travels – you are missing some wonderful pictures – and accompanying music. Vic was also the “official” (?) volunteer photographer for WGBH’s annual “A Celtic Christmas” program (Susan, did I get all that right?). I will miss him.
