Julie A. Carroccia – Town Council
A native Rhode Islander, Julie graduated from URI with a degree in English, and studied Law at Boston College, but ultimately left to pursue a career in banking and finance where she rose to an executive position at Bank of America in risk management. She has an extensive organizational governance and management background with supervision of both very senior individuals (SVPs) as well as a large volume of staff (>125 in one role.) Upon retirement, she chose to make Charlestown her full time home and quickly got involved in protecting Charlestown’s natural and cultural character. First elected in 2016, Julie serves as the Town Council Vice President and would like to continue to bring that commitment to our town’s character along with her impressive management skills to a seat on the Town Council.

The majority of Julie’s banking career was with Bank of America (started 1988; retired late 2015.) Most recent roles included:

Over the course of her 32 year career in banking and finance, Julie had extensive experience in credit risk governance including her role as Bank of America’s Enterprise Credit Policy and Governance Executive where she managed the highest level credit risk management governance committee which established requirements for all domestic and international businesses and required interfacing with a broad variety of constituents. She received multiple enterprise level governance awards under Simplify and Improve and Project New BAC initiatives. Her management experience included roles with direct responsibility for examining and monitoring credit risk in the US/Canada large corporate portfolios covering Technology, Media/Telecommunications, Healthcare, Consumer/Retail, Gaming, Energy, Utilities, Commodities and Diversified Industrial businesses. Julie worked on both the risk management and business sides and was awarded the prestigious Bank of America Spirit Award of Excellence (top 1% of Risk Management associates.) Business responsibilities were also extensive as one of her roles involved managing teams that underwrote credit extensions for 5000 Commercial/Government Banking clients, 250 Large US/Canadian Corporates and 600 US Banks.

Personal
- Julie has many diverse interests as she enjoys business/economic analysis, gardening, and hiking with her dogs on Charlestown trails from the barrier beach to the Francis Carter Preserve.
- Julie is married to Tom Carroccia, a Science Teacher In West Warwick who previously had an extensive business career. She has an adult son who lives in Charlestown and coaches soccer for the Kraft organization.
