Richard Trails
Owned by the Town of Charlestown since 2002, this beauthiful 97 acre property was purchased with funding from the Rhode Island chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
The property is contiguous with part of the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge on the north side of Rt. 1. and forms part of a nearly 500 acre parcel of land protected for conservation, wildlife protection, and passive recreation.
The property can be accessed off of Route 2 (South County Trail), where a small parking lot leads to a hiking trail.
The pine needle covered trail that passes through pines and hardwoods is for the most part level and soft. You’ll find fern and low bush blueberry here. The Charlestown Conservation Commission manages this trail, but there are other trails throughout these woods.
