Night Sky Celebration - A Charlestown "Star Party"

When: Tonight! Saturday, May 27 from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Frosty Drew Campus in Ninigret Park
Why: To Celebrate Charlestown's Beautiful Star-Filled Skies. The sky should be clear tonight for great views of the stars and planets.
Who: Charlestown RI Dark Sky Advocates in Cooperation with Frosty Drew Observatory & Science Center
All are welcome at this "Star Party" to enjoy our spectacular night sky. Charlestown has the darkest skies along the coast between New York and Boston. Read the post to learn guidelines for the event.

You Can Vote By Mail Ballot In Financial Town Referendum Before 8 PM June 5th
This year registered voters in Charlestown can once again vote in the Financial Town Referendum by mail, by placing their ballot in the drop box, or in person. In mid-May a mailing was sent via the U.S. Postal Service to each of the town's registered voters. All mail ballots must be received by the Town Clerk by 8 p.m. on June 5th.

What: Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge Temporarily Closed During Trail Rehabilitation
When: June 5 to June 16
When: August 7 to August 18
The refuge trails have become worn over time leading to puddles and a surface that is not easily accessible for everyone. “Without this project, the trails will continue to deteriorate and detract from the visitors’ experience."

Join The Land Trust 10K Trail Run June 10

Join the Charlestown Land Trust for their annual "Trust Me, You'll Love It" 10K Trail Run.
Where: Amos Green Farm, #223A Route 112 in Charlestown. Run continues on The Nature Conservancy's Carter Preserve.
When: Saturday, June 10. Registration/check-in is 9:00 - 9:50 a.m. Runners start at 10:00 a.m. sharp, walkers at 10:15 a.m.

2023 Memorial Day Parades And Observances

Where: Starts at Compass Hardware and ends at Charlestown Liquor Store

Parade in Carolina on Monday
When: Monday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m.
Where: Starts at the Richmond-Carolina Fire Station and continues South on RT. 112 and ends at Grand Pre Park, just past RT 91. and St. Mary’s Church in Charlestown.
