In the November 2022 election, Charlestown voters approved the retail sale of cannabis (marijuana) in Charlestown with 54.3% voting in favor and 45.7% opposed. Now that the ballot question has passed, the town needs to decide how and where to allow a cannabis retail store should one be allotted to our town by the state.

Remembering Vic Dvorak

Photo of Vic Dvorak
Vic was elected to the Planning Commission in 2008 along with others in our first slate of candidates. Over the intervening years he donated his photography skills to make campaign photos of many of our candidates and in 2020 made candidate videos as well. He gave his time to those candidate photo shoots with amazing kindness and patience.

The Department of Environmental Management is reminding Rhode Islanders to remove potential food sources from their properties as black bears emerge with warmer weather. Bird feeders, unsecured trash cans, livestock feed, and other easily available household and backyard food sources attract bears primarily in early spring, during droughts, or in the fall when they are trying to put on weight for hibernation.
