Apparently some of our town council members were wolves in sheep's clothing and need this ridiculous on-going monitoring. I guess if we knew what they were really about we would not have voted for them. Although they claimed they wanted to do the best for the citizens of Charlestown they are doing anything but that.

Isn't it ironic that all this is coming to light when the congress has been criticized for feathering their own beds recently. The electorate is watching the actions of officials to be prudent with our tax dollars and honest in their efforts to meet the needs of its citizens. This doesn't pass the test on either score.

As the recent Massachusetts special election to the U.S. Senate suggests, it seems our optimism for a more responsive and responsible government has taken a beating since the 2008 elections. Is the Town Council taking its lessons in leadership from the US Congress?

It's getting more difficult to differentiate between town, state and federal politics these days.

Sounds more and more like Washington has come to Charlestown, back door deals done without all the facts!!! Is disclosure an important part of the ethics of the town counsel????? Who is a trusted person who can run and be elected next time?????This is sooooooooooo bad!!

Even though the State's Ethics Commission has been emasculated, would it be a good idea to request an opinion as to what extend two Town Council members may be in conflict of interest?

What we will need it honest people without a personal adgenda to run for office and the entire town to know their bios and all ot the honest citizens VOTE them in. WE ALL need to pay more attention to who is running .

I read with displeasure that the Town Council again allowed defamation of Planning Commission chairman Ruth Platner by none other than Jim Mageau, who almost ruined Charlestown if it weren’t for the public sweeping him out of office in 2008. Why does this Town Council have obvious distaste for her and her respected public servants on the Planning Commission. Seems like the major complainers are Greg Avedesian and Forrester Safford. Gee, they are builders? Do you think they have combined efforts with other developers to put this full court press on the Planning Commission for a reason? How much more obvious could it be? And as for Greg Avedesian complaining about CCA running anonymous emails? And that CCA should attach names to the emails. Is he kidding? So those of us who write can also come under the public inquisition that Forrester, Greg, Charlene Dunn and Marge Frank are becoming famous for. Yes, Greg, I am a friend of yours and I also need a building permit in the future. You think I want CCA to run my name associated with this email? I think what Greg, Forrester, Charlene and Marge are surprised at is the number of emails that CCA is getting and they are building every day by what it appears. Could it the fever that has swept the country with voters wanting full accountability and transparent government may indeed have caught on in Charlestown. Don’t run my name and don’t run anyone else’s name because if you do, I guarantee your email responses will go from a surge to trickle which is exactly what these four want.

The council is offended by the anonymity of CCA e-mails. CCA knows who the messages come from, but CCA is simply protecting people from the toxic, slanderous attacks and vituperation that are the life's blood of Charlestown politics. Speaking your mind is dangerous in Charlestown. We are fortunate that citizens have this venue, and are protected from reprisal.. Keep the
viewpoints coming.

In reference to town council behavior. SHAMFUL.. We teach our children to be more polite and considerate of others.

These public accusations made by Mageau... are they slanderous or lible? Perhaps the receiving party should file that kind of suit against Mr. Mageau. That seems to be the only thing the man will listen to... is The Man.

With all of the emails and show of displeasure with the operations of Charlestown, it now time for some qualified newly retired professionals to consider running for office. Until we get some bright fresh faces governing this town, we will continue the good ole boy network. If we spent less money on expanding government and unnecessary projects and put that money to support our children's (and grandchildren's) education we could better off. "Millions for police stations and beach pavilions but cut that school budget!"

Did Mr Mageau ever attend the anger management classes that he was ordered to by the judge?

I love being able to follow the issues in Charlestown with these emails. Don't get discouraged, keep them on there toes. What's good for one is good for all of Charlestown. Thank You for the good work.

Regarding the last batch e-mails to CCA and the Town Council:
It’s hard for me to understand the mind set of citizens who are afraid of publicly making statements that express their particular opinion on a given issue. Remarks such as “Don’t run my name and don’t run anyone else’s name” , “Speaking your mind is dangerous in Charlestown” and the citizenry needs to be protected from “toxic, slanderous attacks and vituperation (abusive or venomous language used to express blame or censure or bitter deep-seated ill will – sorry, I had to look it up) seem to be a bit over the top. Hopefully remarks like these don’t end up in the Real Estate guide books. Have there been actual instances of serious political reprisals? Cabals and violence secretly plotted by venomous minded politicians in the dark of night? To what end? Control of the mining rights? Keeping the prairie grasses away from the sheepherders? Control of the water supply? Beach sand monopolies?
Sadly power does corrupt. Even at this level. It’s even sadder that we need a group like the CCA to help us achieve our expectations of honest, open and transparent government. Concepts that pre election contenders will swear to promote but that are rarely forthcoming from the successful post election candidates. The real frustration is that it is so simple. Progress is overrated. Forget the drama and govern the community backwards towards the direction of what it was. A simple little town on the ocean. You can use my name anytime you want to.

I think you lose credibility when you post anything without a name attached. It allows people to say anything they want without any accountability. And, it exposes CCA to the claim that some of the comments are made up or the product of a few CCA "elites". If we want accountability
from our elected officials, we need to be as transparent as possible.
