This is Walk #13 in the “Walks in the Watershed” WPWA’s Hiking Guide by Charlie Hickox and Elly Hyder. Winter is a great time to explore the Great Swamp Management Area in South Kingstown, RI. We can get to spots like the Pawcatuck River and Worden’s Pond on this easy, 5 mile walk. If we are lucky enough to have on the ground we will turn this into a snowshoeing walk and look for animal tracks. For those who don’t have snowshoes they will be available to rent for an extra $5. Dress for the weather, wear an orange vest or hat, and bring water and a snack. It’s also a good idea to bring a headlamp, in case we are out after sunset. This event is free but pre-registration is required. Meeting location will be emailed once you register.
