Wild For the Outdoors Event

The Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex is pleased to announce its Wild for the Outdoors event.
Come join the fun during this free event celebrating the 114th Anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System started by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903. This fun-filled family event will include these programs that are on-going for the entire day:
Archery with trained instructors at Kettle Pond’s very own range – and all equipment is provided
Arts and Crafts Activities including fish painting, leaf prints, critter house building, and more!
Scavenger Hunts though the exhibits in the Visitor Center and Ocean View Trail
Tours of newly approved URI Master Gardener Program Site, called Kettle Pond Native Plant Garden.
Scheduled programs include Surf Fishing Baiting Demonstrations by Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Born To Be Wild Nature Center, specializing in bird of prey rehabilitation, will present a “Bird of Prey” live show meeting their live educational ambassadors to learn about a Red-tailed Hawk, a Falcon, and Owls, Indigenous Use and Folk Lore of Native Plants found in Rhode Island by Executive Director, Loren Spears of Tomaquag Museum, and Yoga and Nature – learn how balance, breath, strength and flexibility in yoga poses flow with nature by Quonny Yoga, and Once Upon A Glacier: The Real Ice Age – a trail walk exploring glaciation, the formation of Southern Rhode Island, and reading the landscape for present day evidence of glaciers.
