Take a walk led by Roe Labossiere at the Charlestown Moraine Preserve. It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving and all of the food has been eaten – what is there to do next? Why not a walk at one of Charlestown’s open space properties. Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a glimpse of a turkey!
The approximately 75 acres is called a terminal moraine and marks the last advance of the ice about 14,000 years ago, an outstanding example of the remains of the ice age in Rhode Island.
Its 75 acres has rolling terrain with short steep hills and valleys with some very dense remarkable stands of mountain laurel. A walking stick is recommended. Allow about an hour and dogs are welcome (w/pickup). Prepare for ticks with spray and socks to pull over cuffs.
