Families in Nature: Orienteering
July 19, 2015 @ 1:00 pm
Using a map and compass may seem unnecessary, but knowing how to navigate with them can make hiking more exciting and add an extra challenge to any outdoor adventure. In this program we will learn the basics of map and compass and then put your family to the test with an orienteering competition at Kettle Pond’s orienteering course. If you have a compass, please bring it with you. A limited number of compasses will be available to borrow. This Series is designed to engage families in nature, to introduce them to some different outdoor activities, and to learn more about Rhode Island’s natural history.
