Basic Wilderness Land Navigation Explained

This course covers GPS navigation in the wilderness area for use by Hikers, Paddlers, Hunters, and others. Those taking this course should know Basic Map and Compass Navigation skill. Items to be covered include Navigation Skills, tools including Topographical Maps, Grid Readers, Protractors as well as other scale reading tools. This will followed by finding waypoint coordinates, and using them to create a track. Once this information is entered into a GPS it will be used to demonstrate how to use the GPS Navigation pages including the compass and Map pages device and much more. Latitude/Longitude and UTM Navigation methods will also be reviewed. This course is designed for individuals wishing to improve their GPS navigation Skills. Please bring your GPS if you have one.
