Frosty Drew Observatory, Ninigret Park
On Friday, October 28, beginning at 6 p.m. the Frosty Drew Observatory will celebrate its 2nd annual Tribute to Halloween. Come in costume, and enjoy what we hope will be good skies. You will leave with candy, dressed up or not. During the night, we will play the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast, the program that changed the way radio dramas were presented. We will place speakers on the lawn (weather permitting), so you will be able to hear this program anywhere on the Observatory grounds. See you under spooky skies!

Halloween Nature Walk
Francis C. Carter Preserve (former UNC property)
Examine two small historic cemeteries tucked in the woods and look for blooming witch hazel - a tall woodland shrub with supernatural powers! Maybe we’ll even find an animal skull along the way…. Meet at the parking lot on Old Mill Road. For more information, or if you need directions, please contact Tim Mooney at tmooney@tnc.org or 401-331-7110 ext 17
And in Mystic…
Frights and Sights: Mystic Seaport
Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Storytellers will relate tales of maritime misfortune, the schooner L.A. Dunton will be converted into a haunted ship, roving characters will entertain or frighten you, and trades people in the shops will be manufacturing items of a creepy nature. Family activities include mask-making, face-painting, temporary tattoos, and live music. Children are encouraged to dress in costume and are invited to participate in a nightly parade at 7 p.m. The experience will be self-guided and all “scary” activities are located inside, permitting families with young children to avoid them. Tickets are $13, $12 for members. Children 3 and under are free. To purchase tickets, visit the Seaport’s web site or call 860-572-5322. Oct. 28 performance will end at 8 p.m. to accommodate the free fireworks display scheduled to celebrate the Charles W. Morgan 70th anniversary.
