Question 2 on the June 1st ballot is authorization to partner with a non-profit agency, at no cost to the taxpayers, to hold a conservation easement on the Charlestown Moraine Preserve (the former Whalerock property), to ensure this land remains open to the public for passive recreation and to protect, permanently, its conservation value for future generations.

Below is an explanation of conservation easements from the Charlestown Land Trust and then a second letter explaining how existing Town open space has been protected by easements.
