It is likely decades away - and may not happen at all - but a proposal by the Federal Rail Administration to run train tracks through the northern part of Charlestown has united a town upset by what some residents believe is a lack of transparency, and the possibility of losing private and preserved land. This week Jim Hummel sits down with a lifelong resident who talks about the effect the news has had on her family - and her community.

When: Saturday, February 11, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Olde Mistick Village, 27 Coogan Blvd, Mystic, Connecticut, gather at the Caboose in the north end of the parking lot.

Family Sweetheart Valentine’s Day Dance

When: Friday, February 10 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

For 5-9 year old boys and girls – grandparent or parent for refreshments and fun

This is a time for the young ones to bring their parent or grandparent for a fun night to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Tickets can be purchased at the Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department or at the door the night of the event.  Cost is $8. Call 364-1222 for further information. Registration is available online at www.charlestownrec.com.

Valentine’s Day Concert – Doc Wood and Joe Parillo

When: Friday, February 10 at 7:00 pm

Where: Cross' Mills Library

With a touch of jazz and a touch of folk, Joe Parillo and Doc Wood will present an hour of songs of love. From the classics to the little-known, they will present the perfect tunes to celebrate the coming of Valentine’s Day. Free and open to the public. All are welcome!
