USDA NRCS provides Rhode Island’s farm and forest landowners with technical and financial assistance for conservation practices like forest management plans, seasonal high tunnels for vegetable production, soil health improvements, and more! At this event you’ll learn about applying for assistance with practices like these, as well as the Agricultural Easements Program (ACEP, deadline Feb. 16) which focuses on restoring and protecting wetlands and conserving productive agricultural lands. Deadlines for many other NRCS programs are coming up on April 20, so it’s a great time to get started.

Small farms, backyard gardens, woodland projects, and land management are very important to the Southern RI environment. The Southern Rhode Island Conservation District assists landowners to develop Agricultural and Natural Resource Plans to enhance the value of their property.

They assist all size farms and woodland projects in acquiring technical and financial assistance from State and Federal Agencies. This year there is over 2 million dollars available for project assistance.
