Solarize Charlestown at the Cross Mills Library

When: Thursday, September 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Cross Mills Public Library
What: Solarize Charlestown Team members Nancy Mogielnicki and Julie Carroccia will be manning a table to explain everything about the Solarize Charlestown campaign.

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources and Commerce RI have selected Charlestown to participate in a program to make solar energy more affordable to residents and small businesses, and to simplify the process of finding a contractor and installing solar panels for personal electric generation.

Over 300 Charlestown households have already signed up to have their homes assessed for solar. Because of the magnitude of the response, the price has been lowered to $2.94 per watt. The average price per watt for solar panel installation in Rhode Island is $3.89, so the Solarize Charlestown price is a significant savings. There are also state grants, agreements with National Grid, and Federal Tax Credits that all contribute to the savings.

Visit the library on Thursday to learn all the details of the program. Nancy and Julie are third and fourth from the left in the banner image in this post.
