The Federal Railroad Administration Invites YOU To An Open House

What: FRA Open House
When: Wednesday, January 25, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Where: 60 Congress Street, Springfield, MA

The Federal Railroad Administration announced on Wednesday that they will hold one last public meeting on the NEC Future plan before they make their Record of Decision (ROD)*.

According to FRA, “These sessions are intended to share information about the Preferred Alternative and the Tier 1 Final EIS, and to answer questions in an informal setting”

The FRA didn’t come to Charlestown, but you can go to them. Please let us know if you are interested in going. If you have a Facebook account, please respond to the Facebook event that SECoast has set up. If you don’t have a Facebook account, you could comment below, or email us at mail@charlestowncitizens.org.

If there is enough interest residents might consider hiring a coach (bus). If there were 54 people it would cost about $25 each. Does this interest you? Let us know.

This is of course not fair. This is a weekday when most have to work and travel to Springfield is not an option. If they can have an open house in Springfield, why not in Charlestown? None of this so far has been fair. Fair or not, this would be an opportunity to let the FRA know what you think!

*Record Of Decision (ROD)
From National Environmental Protection Act: “The ROD is the final step in the EIS process and may not be issued sooner than 30 days after the approved final EIS is distributed.

The ROD identifies the selected alternative, presents the basis for the decision, identifies all the alternatives considered.”
