The plan needs to be updated so that Charlestown can maintain its high rating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System, which has allowed property owners to receive a 15 percent discount on their flood insurance premiums since May 1, 2015.

For a reminder of natural disasters in Charlestown, we have collections of photographs of the Great Flood of 2010 and 2012’s Superstorm Sandy at our website.

This project was made possible by the commitment of the Charlestown Natural Hazard Mitigation Committee and leadership and support from the Charlestown Town Administrator and Town Council. This commitment, leadership, and support will result in better preservation and enhancement of the quality of life, property, and resources of the Town of Charlestown.
