Have you always wanted to discover an owl in your own neighborhood? If you join Frosty Drew Nature Center’s Owl Prowl, you could hear or see some local Rhode Island owls right here in Ninigret Park.
According to eBird data, Ninigret Park is one of the few places in Rhode Island to hear Long-eared Owls. Come try and find some with us!
Frosty Drew Naturalists will begin the evening in our Sky Theater, with a slideshow on native owl species. Through our presentation, you will learn to identify local owl species by sight and sound. Afterwards, join Naturalists on a guided nighttime walk through Ninigret Park to listen and watch for these nocturnal raptors.
After our night-hike, hot cocoa will be provided back at the Nature Center as we warm up and recap our discoveries. Owl activity is based on nature’s timing, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Wear layers, dress appropriately for chilly weather. Frosty Drew Nature Center will provide red-tinted flashlights, no white flashlights please.
