Put down the shopping bags and start enjoying this very mild December weather we’ve been having!

The Nature Conservancy and Charlestown Land Trust is offering a free, 3-mile hike on Saturday afternoon, starting at 1pm from the Old Mill Road parking lot. (off Rte.112)

The walk will include a sneak preview of a new trail segment that they are developing south of the power lines. You’ll also tour part of the 270 acre property that was added to the preserve about a year ago.

You’ll get to see a very active restoration project that will double the size of the field at Carter, benefiting wildlife and transforming the look of the preserve.

The trails will be dry and flat, with the exception of the walk back up the hill to the parking lot at the end.
