Get Your Hair Cut and Support Operation Stand Down

At a recent Charlestown Town Council Meeting, Council President Tom Gentz read the following Statement:

On July 1, 2015, I introduced my barber, Joe, to Operation Stand Down. Operation Stand Down is a Rhode Island Veteran’s Association dedicated to helping our brave warfighters from Iraq and Afghanistan. Joe is retiring at the end of August and has offered to donate all the haircut proceeds to Operation Stand Down on Thursday, August 27 and Friday August 28, 2015. His hours of operation those days are 8 am to 5 pm. I hope you will get your haircut with Joe one of those two days. I am proud to have introduced Joe to Operation Stand Down as I am a Viet Nam Era Veteran.

Barber to Donate Proceeds of Final Hair Cuts to Veterans

Joe DeMario has been cutting hair for 54-years and soon he will be retiring but before he closes his shop in Spindrift Village, Westerly he wants to serve those that serve us by donating all his proceeds on his final days in business to Operation Stand Down RI.

On August 27 & 28 all haircuts at Joe’s Barber Shop will be $20 and all the proceeds will go to help the veterans served by Operation Stand Down RI. Anyone who goes to Joe’s Barber Shop on those days will also receive a free gift certificate from Dunn’s Corner Pizza.

“To often our veterans are forgotten. By doing this generous act Joe is showing the veteran community that he has not forgotten their sacrifice and service,” said Tony DeQuattro, Chairman and Founder of Operation Stand Down RI. “100% of the donation will go directly to the veterans we serve, providing housing, employment training and other important services.”

“I’m a Vietnam Era Veteran and I appreciate Joe giving back to veterans so honorably,” said Tom Gentz, longtime customer of Joe’s Barber Shop and President of the Charlestown Town Council.
