Storm Update – 9:30 PM- January 27
Town Hall will open at 10AM on Wednesday, January 28, but all Chariho Schools will be closed on Wednesday.
Governor Raimondo will lift the travel ban at 8PM tonight. Drivers are still urged to stay off the roads even after the travel ban is lifted. Unless travel is necessary, drivers are urged to stay home.
The Governor has announced at 11:45 today that the travel ban remains in place for the rest of the day. Late this afternoon, the state will assess the conditions of roads and will likely continue the travel ban.
State roads and interstate highways are described as not passable and on-ramps are very dangerous.
In Charlestown we are not seeing much snow right now, but a bit farther north in the state the snow remains heavy. Charlestown’s DPW appears to have the town roads in great shape already.
There were about 1000 households without power in Rhode Island, but none in Charlestown.
