Turkey Trot at Trustom Pond and Mill Pond Preserve

It’s the Friday after Thanksgiving and all of the food has been eaten – what is there to do next?

How about a walk at Trustom Pond NWR and Mill Pond Preserve? Join Volunteer Sally Hanson and Roe LaBossiere from The Charlestown Land Trust for a great wildlife walk around the Refuge and Preserve.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and catch a glimpse of a turkey that survived the holiday! Meet at 10:00 a.m. sharp on Friday, November 28, at Trustom Pond’s parking area on Matunuck Schoolhouse Road by taking Rt. 1 to the Green Hill Beach Rd. exit. At the stop sign turn left and go about 1.5 miles +/-. Trustom is on the right.

After this hike we will go to Mill Pond Preserve.  The Preserve is located on Route 2 (Charlestown, RI), just north of the Route 1 intersection. Going north it is the first driveway on the right after the entrance to The Hungry Haven restaurant. Look for signs.

For both walks visitors should wear sturdy shoes and are encouraged to bring binoculars. Restroom facilities at Trustom Pond only.
