Memorial Day Events 2014

Honoring  Veterans from tribes of Southern New England – May 21 at 1:00 pm
Tomaquag Museum will host a talk, “Honoring our Veterans” in honor of Memorial Day. Talk presented by Lorén Spears, Tomaquag Museum Executive Director and cultural educator. The talk will explore the impact of Indigenous veterans on the US armed forces, with a focus on tribes of Southern New England. For more details see the event page.


There are two Memorial Day Parades in Charlestown this weekend

memorialDay2012Cross’ Mills
Parade starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 25
Route of Parade: Old Post Road, near the South Kingstown line to King Tom Drive.

After the parade a ceremony will be held at Ninigret Park along with refreshments, and music by the Wakefield Concert Band.

Carolina
Parade starts at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26
Route of Parade: Route 112, from the Carolina Fire Station in Richmond to the intersection of routes 112 and 91, across from Saint Mary’s Church, where there will be a ceremony.

After the parade, the public is invited to have chowder and clam cakes at the Downey Weaver Post on Route 2 in Charlestown.
