Lies and Damned Lies

Sometimes an argument is so inane that it is difficult to piece together the logic used by the other side. Such is the case with the Charlestown Democratic Town Committee (CTDC) bloggers recently blaming the departure of the past Town Administrator (TA) on the Charlestown Citizens Alliance. Granted, the dissatisfaction with the past Town Administrator’s actions and decisions was decried by CCA candidates, but unless I have my facts wrong, the CDTC blog’s contention that CCA ousted the past TA is more smoke than fire. A half lie is the most cowardly of lies as Mark Twain said.
Let’s see if I got this right. The previous TA left his position with a very generous severance plan; he was not fired. He left before the last election. The CDTC backed two of the sitting Town Council officials (Marge Frank and Greg Avedisian); CCA backed two (Tom Gentz and Dan Slattery); and the fifth and final vote was Lisa DiBello who rightly recused herself. Even a second grader would know that 2-2 is a tie. So CCA did not fire the TA. The Democrats, however, think they have found a cause even if it is pure foolishness. They portray the previous TA as some kind of unfortunate simpleton who wandered off the path and got caught in the briar patch of local politics. This is demeaning to the TA and misleading to the people of Charlestown. The past TA was no simpleton; he simply expected Frank, Avedisian, and the members of the CDTC to have his back. He miscalculated and was left sitting alone. The CTDC bloggers can repeat their foolish arguments over and over again, but their arguments are still foolish no matter how often they repeat them. Remember, a lie is still a lie no matter how many times it is repeated.
Now here is the most laughable, yet deplorable, accusation that the bloggers of the CDTC are currently promoting. They say the TA cannot find employment because of the way he left his job in Charlestown and how it was reported on the web. Can their bias be any more transparent? The bloggers of the CDTC have gone after Lisa DiBello with such a vengeance on the web that Lisa’s job search has been hampered or eliminated. Did Lisa get the same deal as the TA? Any possibility of Lisa finding a suitable job is minimal, thanks to the bloggers. How can anyone sit back and let this drivel continue. Those responsible in the CDTC, and that includes the people who sit back and let this behavior continue, are just as responsible for the attacks on Lisa DiBello and the intended outcomes as those who write such nonsense.
