Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuges Are Re-Opened
The Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuges are re-opened and in time to enjoy the beautiful fall colors as the leaves transform from green to a stunning array of rich reds, oranges and yellows, and in time to capture photos of blooming goldenrods and asters as well as migrating hawks.
It’s also National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 13th to October 19th, 2013. Come celebrate with staff and join us on Saturday, October 19th, for a fun day of nature crafts at Kettle Pond Visitor Center from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, and for an exciting presentation on the “Wonderous Wolves” at 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, in Charlestown, Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex consists of Block Island NWR, John H. Chafee NWR, Ninigret NWR, Trustom Pond NWR and Sachuest Point NWR. Trails are open from dawn to dusk, and Kettle Pond Visitor Center and Sachuest Point Visitor Center are opened daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
