Just another Example

There is a saying – “If they do it once, they will do it twice; if they do it to me, they will do it to you.”
The letter by Ruth Platner in the October 11 “Westerly Sun” is a perfect example of this. If members of the Charlestown Democratic Town Committee lie about one person, they will lie about any number of people. If they do it once, they will continue to do it. I know that these people have lied about a number of town officials or residents that are vocal against their bad behavior. They have lied over and over. This is part of political campaigning that stinks, but it works because many voters do not pay attention to what is happening in their back yards. The CDTC members rely on the voter being uninformed and willing to listen to lies and inferences that do not stand up to scrutiny.
I know Ruth’s letter was factual. I have seen the members of the CDTC write outright lies about several people and make unsubstantiated claims against residents of this town. They have no respect for their neighbors and no stomach for discourse. Ruth pointed out a few instances that affected her personally. I know there are more people in town that can add to her arguments.
It is unfortunate that the CDTC candidates try to deny a connection with other CDTC members who support their candidacy. They are known by the company they keep. Their connection to the CDTC members of whom Ruth writes is obvious and their denials are disingenuous.
